I still say the notch has had a similar affect as the home button in terms of brand recognition. If you watch commercials and notice the phones they are using (I imagine I’m one of very few noticing this lol), even if dummy phones, many have a notch just like the iPhone. The same way phones in commercials had the home button and bezels in the past.

OP you’re right lol, easy to identify the iPhone users in that pic!

I don’t get this ā€žfunnyā€œ post. There are plenty of cheap androids running notches

Agree. Here's what I said in February of 2018:
It wasn't until I saw the icon of the iPhone X that shows up on the battery widget and in iTunes, but I'm convinced the notch is here to stay. It may get a tiny bit smaller, but I personally doubt it'll go away completely for awhile. The notch is what makes the phone instantly recognizable in the same way the home button does for every other iPhone. It is the defining characteristic of the phone (even more so than the Apple logo itself) that lets others know that its an iPhone. Get rid of the home button and the notch, and no one has any idea what phone they are looking at, much the way it has mostly been among all the different Android phones all along.
