Hey all,

So I was checking out a YouTube review by DetroitBorg (or something to that effect) and he included a benchmark that made it seem the write speed on the late '15 Fusion is almost twice as high. Is there anyone out here who has compared the speeds? Cheers!

I just bought an 886 vs a 472 because of the difference in the Fusion drives. The 886 has a 128GB SSD, vs the 24GB in the newer one. I don't see how a 24GB Fusion drive can be faster than a 128GB.

I don't think it is. I think the suggestion was that the new generation is also faster somehow. Do you know if they are the same drives?

If it is true, it is only because of the newly tech applied on SSD side. We all know MacBook Pro 15 2015 triple the speed on the prior model.

So the same tech may used in the lated iMac fusion. However, comparing the 1TB version of Fusion, I still prefer the old version which has 128 GB SSD. As the speed of fusion does not only rely on the SSD's speed, also the capacity.

They've improved the flash storage, so accessing information that is stored on the flash portion of the SSD is much faster then compared to the old Fusion drive, but as @zhaoxin said, I prefer the old one (or in my case the 2TB Fusion drive) because it has 128GB of flash storage.
