Hi guys,

I have a Mac Mini Late 2014, with Windows 10 Bootcamped on.

Windows 10 decided to screw me with a forced update which ruined the entire installation. I've backed up the Windows partition.

I now want to erase the fusion drive and restore it back to its original factory state.

I want to re-install macOS from fresh. I don't have any immediate plans to bootcamp Windows 10 back on, but I may do so at some point.

I've already booted into Internet Recovery mode. I've already erased the bootcamp partition, and formated it as macOS Extended Journalized.

But I'm a bit confused or rather stupid on how to merge the separate partitions as one. and essentially restore it to factory state.

I've attached my disk util screenshots, sorry for the bad quality :(

Please help me.

Follow the steps in post #6 and #14 in my old posts starting here.

Let me know if you get stuck.

Thanks for the reply!!

Just to be sure...Post #6 pretty much rules me out since I do have a fusion drive....So I would ignore Post #6 right?

You still want to follow the same steps there. That diskutil cs delete "Macintosh HD" command that kills a core storage volume will also blow off the Fusion drive. Then format both disks and follow the steps to rebuild the Fusion drive.

Okay I've deleted Macintosh HD successfully. The rest of Post #6 says to go through with choosing to Install macOS - but as the thread progresses - my assumption is that the OT there didn't go through with that, and instead went on to fix his fusion drive first.

Image 1 is what I see when I choose to install OSX. Notice the BOOTCAMP partition is still there - which I want to merge with the rest of the HDD storage.

Image 2 is what I see in Disk Utility.
>> Untitled Disk 1 is 138.87GB SATA Internal Physical Volume
>> Untitled Disk 2 is 120.99GB PCI Internal Physical Volume

It looks like you did not format each of the drives after you deleted the Fusion drive.

When you format you need to select view all devices in DU then select the drive at the very top then format. The gets rid of all the partitions and formats it back to one large volume.

Once that is done do the Terminal steps in post #14 to get the Fusion drive back.

Hi I was having this problem as well and I tried to follow your directions in posts 6 and 14 from that thread. Instead of recreating a single 3tb fusion drive it seems to have created yet another drive. Can you help? I will owe you anything.
