I currently use a Radeon RX 580 with with cMPro 5,1 running latest Mojave.
From what i understand, this RX 580 GPU is the fastest GPU that will work unless i do a hardware modification or upgrade to Catalina (again not easy.)
Is it feasible that a faster GPU will be made in the not too distant future that will be able to be used on my older cMPro 5,1 system and Mojave? Ideally with 16Gb VRam.
Is this a possibility or is my old system now unable to get faster upgrades in the future?
Thanks all ... :)

No additional GPU support will be added to Mojave.
All future GPU support will be Catalina and higher.
AMD 5XXX is 10.15.1+ and does not cover all variations.

Apple set Mojave in stone the day Catalina was released. While Security features and corrections will be added to Mojave, no new hardware support will be brought to Mojave by Apple.

So, any new hardware support for MP5,1 will only work with Catalina. While Catalina is unsupported with MP5,1, works well when installed via OpenCore.

Thanks guys ... I'll maybe look into Catalina, but i have several old hardwares such as printer and scanners that only use 32 bit. So these are not supported as they are not 64bit - or is this not true?

And OpenCore ... what are the disadvantages?

32bit software and hardware will not work with Catalina.

OpenCore is evolving rapidly, this is a bless and a curse. You have to be on top of it.

Thanks Tsialex ... i saw that and tried reading but way above my head. I'll try and munch through it again sometime soon. There may be some life in my old 5,1 yet ... :)

i m using Photoshop + C4D + Final Cut.... planning to buy RADEON VII ... my questions are
1- There is no NVIDIA WEB DRIVER for my 1080ti to work on Mojave ?
2- How to install Mojave since Radeon VII doesn't have boot screen..? (I can't see anything ..to install?)
today I've only got a 5870 working (bootscreen) no metal compatible and Asus 1080Ti metal. compatible but with Nvidia web driver to work...what are my solutions ? thank you for your help

For 1080TI you are stuck to HS. There are no drivers for Nvidia cards except the Kepler line on OSX past HS.

Just why do you want a faster video card at all ? What do you want to do with the computer anyways ? The rx580 is fine for general use under mojave, I have one too, but mine has a boot screen and cost a bit more than i wanted to spend ;) I also have a couple of flashed nvidia gtx680, and these are fully supported and fine for general use. If you need faster performance for a specific task, such as video encoding, you should research the software you want to use. It may benefit more from a newer i7 imac or imac pro. I assume you already boot off a fast SSD? If you get a 5700 card you are limiting yourself to catalina and i am not sure thats such a good thing ......

Any supported GPU will work after the drivers are loaded, takes two minutes or so, but the display work after that.

No need to have pre-boot configuration support to install macOS with an AMD supported GPU. Btw, you can always do a clean install from macOS, just select an empty drive.
