future of Mac pros?

Greetings everyone with the way Apple's roadmap has been heading simplifying programs or for a better lack of downgrading do you think a Mac Pro will even be in the future of this new business model? I really don't want to start a debate over final cut Pro X it just seems to me that if Apple no longer supports professional community would it be safe to assume and I know that's a dangerous thing to assume, but could we possibly see the end of the Mac pros in favor of iMacs? Personally I've been a loyal Apple fan since G3's still have one runs great. I would hardly consider myself a Hollywood director but I do make a substantial living with photography and video my current setup 2009 eight core 2.66 running a 4 TB raid zero software-based will suffice for some time to come I'd like to believe in a year I can upgrade to even faster rendering times for the many weddings and company projects. I realize that within this week there is a possibility of a new Mac Pro with final cut Pro seven being discontinued and no support for DVD studio Pro in X which I just can't get my head around I don't know how many couples want me to upload their wedding to a cloud ;-) everybody wants a DVD or even a Blu-Ray at this point but that's a whole another discussion itself I guess we'll just have to wait and see if final cut Pro seven can be installed on the new operating system anyone's insight would be more than welcome take care

The latest speculation is there will be a release of new MP this week.

We will see then what Apple is doing.

I think the consensus seems to be the higher spec'd machines are ok but the base ones such as mine (see sig) are overpriced.

Let's see what they do. I will certainly upgrade to the latest and greatest. But if Apple ever abandoned us then apart from OSX the likes of Dell would happily fill the void. They also have Linux expertise.

I don't think so. The Mac Pro never was a high volume seller, and it's priced accordingly. As long as it makes Apple any money, they won't discontinue it.

As Mr. Jobs said: "PCs are going to be like trucks, they are still going to be around. However, only one out of x people will need them."

There are less and less things you really need a Mac Pro for these days, but there are still enough where that machine makes sense. And yes, that includes some of Apple's own software products.

I disagree. I think Jobs will say the iMac will be your "truck". in 2-3 years, the multicore processors will get cooler and smaller and have more cores, so Apple will simply do away with the towers, much to my dismay. I for one will buy the biggest baddest last Mac Pro, and hold onto it as long as I can. But from my chair the writing is on the wall.

I wouldn't want to rule that out, but I think we'll rather see a more compact Mac Pro redesign before that happens.

I don't disagree that we'll see a new design, but I predict that that design will be the last. My sources in Cupertino don't have a positive outlook on the Mac Pro beyond the next few years.
