Future of Next Iphone & Jailbreaking!

Since I jailbroke my 3G iphone 2 months ago, I can't image going back.
I love being able to customize, theme, mod, etc...

Considering that the Iphone Dev Team is having trouble jailbreaking the
new 2G Ipod touch, does anyone now if this means the next 3rd Gen Iphone
will be unbreakable? I don't care that much about unlocking, but I don't
know if I would be able to bring myself to buy the next iphone that
apple releases If I couldn't bring my hacks, customizing, and modding!!

Any thoughts?

Well, I really have no way of knowing for sure but, IMO I don't think they will ever be able to produce a "hack-proof" device. I imagine it is only a matter of time until the new iPhone (whenever that may be) is Jailbroken.

But I agree...I can't imagine being without a Jailbroken phone now.

It's a fair question.... they post progress they've made on their blog, but you're right, they've now had a rather long time to work on the 3G unlock, and although they've been working hard on it, it looks a lot more challenging than the past unlock capers have been. The 2G iPod touch... I dunno. It hasn't been that long, and I'm not apprised on the details of what's making it difficult for them.

I guess one of the unfortunate realities is that the interaction of jailbreaking and the App Store changes the game for Apple. On the one hand, jailbreaking offers a convenient mechanism to shut up software vendors whose apps get rejected by the App Store, which is good for Apple. On the other hand, App Store piracy seems to have become one of the more prominent jailbreaking passtimes, and that gives Apple much more direct fiscal incentive to fight back.
