Hey!!

Picked up the new M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch yesterday at a local Apple Store. I definitely see the bleed and such with the blooming, largely with black screens.

On the fence with returning and just settling for my 4th gen iPad Pro 12.9, since it feels somewhat wasteful to have an M1 processor in this type of operating system, with how it could easily run some type of MacOS Big Sur build.

For future proofing, what do you predict Apple doing operating system wise for iPadOS w/ M1’s? Also, who expects some type of IDE like Xcode coming to M1, since it open the possibility for ARM architecture? I do programming and video editing, while graphic design on the side. 4th gen iPad Pro can do it right now, but the performance and rasterizing is soooo much faster. iPadOS games optimized for M1 run exceptionally well.

What do you think iPadOS 15 will introduce for the M1 iPad Pro’s?

In less than a month, there will be a huge update. Expect FCPX and LPX at least.

They had MacOS running on an A12Z last summer. The processor hasn’t been the thing holding that back for a while. MacOS, as it stands today, would absolutely suck on a touch interface.

I'm waiting to buy after WWDC. They need to address the apps only being allowed 5gb of RAM currently, and I have a "fire sale" 2020 12.9" from BestBuy hopefully on the way in the meantime. Then I'll sell that and my 11" Pro and upgrade to an 8gb 256 most likely.

Hopefully, the big expectations etc. will be met with the news from WWDC.

I have my doubts but would love to be positively surprised.

But then, no half-done Logic please. Same functionality and plugins as the Mac

We should get a forum sticky for “next iPadOS “ wish list to start collecting these discussions. Would be fun to trace back how long people were predicting some feature.

That is a good idea.

If only you could hook up a mouse and had some kinda magic kb laying around. Wishful thinking I know.
Right, you CAN have a mouse and keyboard with the iPad, but that's not the default, and basically takes away what makes a tablet a tablet. Apple is not known to deliver an experience unless they can deliver it well to the average user (aside from some obvious missteps). The average tablet user would see MacOS on a tablet as a poor user experience.
