Hi,
I recently got a new hard drive and have to setup Time Machine again. I am backing up a total of 252Gb from my internal and other external drive to a terabyte drive. I have all of my TM settings correct, no antivirus software, and the drive is partitioned to Mac Extended Journaling.

But with both HD's connected via FW400 to my eMac the transfer speed is about 3MB/s. Which obviously is very, very slow. Does anyone have any suggestions, or help on ways to fix this.
Thanks!

Its possible that somehow both ports run through the same bus on the iMac? Try disconnecting one drive and test the transfer rate again.

That did speed it up a bit, I guess I'll just live with it. This and the fact that the eMac doesn't even have USB2 is making me seriously consider using just my iBook until January then get a new mac after the macworld announcements.
