Just FYI, the new Adaptive Audio listening mode in AirPods Pro is incredible for phone calls, video conferences, etc. It tunes out background noise around you BUT it also pipes in a little of your own voice so you don't feel like you're talking with a pillow on your head. The technical term for this is "sidetone" and pro grade headsets have this built in to make conversations more natural. (Landline telephones have always had robust sidetone as well.)

On AirPods, Noise Cancellation mode has always lacked sidetone, so it was harder to gauge your own voice. The only other option was Transparency which lets you hear your voice but is rough in a noisy environment.

Anyway, I'm psyched we have this now, and am eagerly waiting for the next version AirPods Max hardware that will support it as well.

I am now just reading this post. I made this post the other day. Is what I'm experiencing considered 'sidetone'. I've never heard of the term or knew about it until I read your post, so I thought it's an issue/defect on my Airpod Pros 2 USB-C pair. I can hear my own voice most clearly when Noise Cancellation mode is on.

I'm not hearing any voice feedback that I can detect on my AirPods Pro 2 in noise cancellation mode. I do hear it in Adaptive mode.

Interesting, got it. I think I might have a defective pair. I'm going to schedule an appt at my local Apple store and see if I can get it replaced. Thanks for responding!
