Ok, upgraded or tried to.... couldn’t due to not enough free space. Had over 60gb free. The install filled everything.

Talked to Apple support. Seems to be a known issue. Have to do their internet recovery and try again, but may not work they said. Trying it now.

If it doesn’t, I have to format HD and start from scratch. Backups may also not work according to chat.

What the living hell has happened to Apple?!

Just went through this hell. I even went in Terminal and deleted some large files. Nothing worked! Finally deleted some swap files or something via terminal and they freed up an extra 9 gb to finish the install. When my computer finally booted.... 148gb free. Unreal. Between iOS113 and this I'm in a state of shock.

yeah. I’ve had to wipe the entire HD and still fighting me. This is a major flaw and Apple seems unable to address.
