Just a heads up in case some of you were planning to go in for a screen replacement.

I was told that if I were to get my screen replaced on my iPhone 6S with iOS 10, Apple Pay and apps that use touch ID to authorize purchases would stop working.

Apple is aware of the issue and they're working on a software update for iOS 10.

UPDATE: It looks like this only applies to the scenario where your phone needs access to your credit card information stored on the phone (like when you are using Apple Pay or using an alternate credit card with iTunes purchases). And it may only be certain types of screens that are replaced exhibit this problem. Regardless, if you are someone who is on iOS 10 please double check that Apple Pay will continue to work when you send it in for replacement. Or if you don't care much for Apple Pay, then you can ignore it -- they're going to eventually fix it and you wouldn't notice the difference.

This was from one of the tech's that ordered a screen replacement for my iPhone 6S Plus at the Apple Store. I eventually decided against it as I didn't want to wait that long to get the screen replaced.

I've had my screen replaced at the Genius Bar today and everything works fine and I'm using iOS 10.

Do you have an iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus AND have you tried to use Apple Pay.

Touch ID will still work to unlock the phone.

What I was told is that Apple Pay and iTunes purchases that uses your fingerprint to authorize purchases won't.

Yeah, have a 6S. No issues at all. Not tried Apple Pay but it works on the App Store and iTunes Store. Was told once replaced it would just work as it did before and as far it has!

I see, did you actually purchase things through the App Store or iTunes Store (free doesn't count, its when the iPhone needs to get your credit card stored on your phone that is the difference).

I personally don't use Apple Pay or don't do iTunes purchases that often, so it doesn't matter. I'll update the post.

I just bought a game from the AppStore and Touch ID worked fine. Just need to try Apple Pay!

Fair enough, Apple Pay ought to work too would be my guess then.

So, it may have to do with certain part numbers that are not compatible yet with iOS 10. So you may be okay there if AppStore and Touch ID works and you don't have the problem.
