I do qualify for apples education discount as I am taking a few classes for work. However at no time during my order process did they ask for proof. The discount with apple care was well over $200 off msrp. Just thought I would pass it along for those thinking of ordering.

i got mine but it was only $100 off... how are u coming up with $200 off??

I have always used the education discount. I am no longer a student and have bout two computers since with the discount, no issues.

I didn't know and I have been buying macs for years. If one person saves a few bucks then it was worth me typing it and you being inconvenienced by reading information that you knew.

FWIW, The UK Higher Education store can only be reached from a University internet.

Apple UK may not check ID, but you more or less have to be connected to a university network to place an on-line order.

I don't know if they check for phone orders.

I witnessed the Westfield Mall store in Paramus NJ ask a customer for their Student iD at the time of their iMac purchase last week. lucky thing the woman's daughter was there to provide it.

Incorrect. There are loopholes to trick the Apple site into thinking you are on a university campus.

Oh well, I used my mums uni discount legitimately.

If you read the fine print, Apple reserves the right to audit you at any time. If you do not produce the necessary documentation then they can bill your original payment source for the difference. I have no way if they make a habit of doing random audit sampling, but it would seem to be a good business practice to keep all of us honest.

wow this is awesome i didnt even realized I saved on the apple care as well, it was $119 instead of $169... So I saved $150... Not bad!!

Well I got my iMac as a refurb so I saved a total of $325 between that and me edu discount on AppleCare. Awesome.
