G-Maps vs Navigon

If anyone has experience with either/both of these I would love to see a head to head comparison.
I want a GPS for driving but I would also use it for bicycling and walking around cities on vacation.
I don't want to pay a monthly fee and I live in Canada and so want Canadian maps as well.
Price is a major concern but mostly I want usable, easy to read and accurate maps and an intuitive and easy to use interface.
I think offline maps (to save Roaming fees--it does, doesn't it?) would be a must at times.

use sygic it is a lot better navigation. Yes because the maps are already preloaded onto the phone you will not pay any roaming fees as all it needs to use is the gps.

That made no sense at all.

G-Maps and Navigon are both pre-loaded maps. G-Maps is very primitive and from my experience, the directions are horrible. Navigon from my brief testing this morning seems to be better than both Sygic and G-Maps. Only thing that bothers me so far with Navigon is the lack of a zoom feature. Things are a little small on the screen.

Next update for Navigon will fix that though.

I'm pretty sure it zooms using the iPhone multi-touch features. Check the video if you haven't seen it already.

How can anybody really answer this question? Navigon just got released for North America. Heck, it's not even showing up in the Appstore or iTunes when you search for it. Give it at least 2 days...

id like to be able to zoom in anytime I want... its a little to blimp view for me. However, its incredibly smooth and accurate so far... and ill say SO FAR because I havent tested it thoroughly.

I have been using it for weeks. My brother has the European version, I got that from him (we share apps). I then downloaded the trial north american version and took the american maps of that and put it in the EU version.

Oh really? How can you compare the two when G-Maps is only available in the USA?...

I am from England and navigon has been out for a while here. How can you say that navigon is better. It is the cheapest looking software I have ever used. I have used both and sygic Is a lot better. Navigon looks like a cheaper version of maps. And also further up the thread someone said that google maps are preloaded which they are not as you have to download them continuously during your journey

Thanks for the info but when did I ever say Navigon is better? Haha.
 
Sygic's interface seems like it is more controllable, more options, more things to click--which can be a burden to some people but it does offer the ability to change voices.

Navigon's interface is more clean, sleek, and organized and might appeal to a lot more users.

Both gave equally accurate directions, but sygic did calculate some asinine route for me once when i knew a much better way...

Sygic voice instructions were much louder in my opinion

Overall i think it comes down to the interface and which one you like better. Personally i like the Sygic's interface because it feels more complicated and i like complicated things :)
