Hiya,
My G4 iBook's power management called it a day and I replaced it with a MacBooktoday - lovely machine! Before the G4, I had a G3 that's still hanging in there(barely) and I'm hoping to help it along with parts of the G4. is it possible to transfer the following from the G4 to G3?
1. Screen (G3's is gone)
2. Hard disk (G3's is working fine but if it doesn't hurt, why not?)
3. RAM (Got 1GB on G4 and 384MB on G3)

Another thing, my new MB has 2x256 RAM (long story) and I've bought a 1GB replacement. Is it possible to use the 1GB from the G4 in the 2nd slot?
Many thanx!

1. transferring the screen from the g4 to the g3 might work, im not sure what the inverter is like on the g3, but you will most likely need to transfer that as well.
2. the hard disk will be easy, just know you'll have to reinstall everything, so you may want to use target disk to another computer to get at yr g4's apps and documents you want to save
3. the ram should also be easy from the g4 to the g3

also, the ram from the g4 is, i think a 167mhz bus speed and the mb is something like 667. plus, the mb has ddr2, and the g4 is just ddr. ddr2 is 240 pins and ddr is 184. so this swap wont work.

good luck!

The ram from the g4 to the g3 depends on the revision g4 you have. Old ones use pc133 and the newest use pc2700, I believe. As for the macbooks, no go I am pretty sure.

varunbster and Royale w/cheese, thanx alot for your help. Will try these out and see.
Cheerio,
Hellene
