G4 Mini to Panasonic plasma - potential problems?

I'm picking up a g4 mini in the next couple of days that has been completely wiped clean.
I don't have any sort of monitor at home and was looking at hooking it up to my Panasonic plasma to set it up from scratch using a DVI - HDMI cable.
Will I actually be able to see anythiing without having an OS already installed or is it going to be a pointless exercise?

Should be fine, the plasma should behave just like any normal monitor. Although I use the VGA input of my Panny plasma to avoid HDMI handshake issues so that is always an option.

What is the native resolution that your plasma display supports? You may actually have a problem with using a DVI-HDMI cable at a high resolution. I once tried hooking up a Mini G4 to a 37" Sharp LCD (1920x1080) using a DVI-HDMI cable and I could not get a picture at all. The same Mini connected to a 24" LCD (1920x1200) using a Dual Link DVI cable worked just fine. I suspect the dual-link high-resolution support is dependent on a proper DVI cable.

think (and this is from an increasingly foggy memory ) that its 1024 x 768.

Ordered a standard VGA cable so I should have all my bases covered
