Just thought this was kinda strange and share with others.

I removed the 160gb stock drive from the G5 as I had Leopard 10.5.8 installed on it and put it back into my 2009 Mini as I'm selling it. I can't believe that the Mini booted from an APM formatted(Intel used GUID partition scheme) drive and really stunned to see the 2009 Mini boot from 10.5.8 which orginally shipped with 10.6.2! Strange lol.

Did the original 2009 Mini ship with 10.5? That I can understand but be able to boot from a non-GUID partition scheme is pretty weird.

I don't think it's actually supposed to do that... o_O

Depends on the type of Mini, though. If it came with 10.5 it can boot it no problems, but to my knowledge booting it frokm Apple Partition Map shouldn't work.

Yeah my Mini shipped with 10.6.2 but I think the first 2009 Mini shipped with 10.5 so that part is understandable but I still can't believe it booted with APM.

I should pull out my Tiger discs and see if it'll still boot :p

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

The 2009 mini shipped with 10.5

And intel macs can boot APM. I accidnetly formatted an upgraded mini HDD to APM and didn't realize it until I tried installing windows with bootcamp (I had to change it to GUID)

I amazed my Apple tech guy when I told him I booted that same 2009 mac mini with my 1.33ghz iBook G4's hard drive through target disc mode.

My mac mini came with 10.5.6. My mom has the same machine, hers came on Snow Leopard I used my install discs from my mini on hers. I sold mine but kept the 10.5.6 discs for PPC booting in the future.

I still want that PC2700 chip if you have it PM ME!
