G5 iMac Still Not Working After Second Hard Drive. Need Help!!

I don't know if Apple initializes the drives before shipping.
Boot from the OSX DVD but instead of proceeding to install, go to Disk Utility from the top menu, and see if it gives you the option to Erase (format, initialize or partition) the hard drive.
If so, do this, then try restoring your OS and software
