Heres my problem. When I wake my Powermac G5 from sleep it will not wake properly. All the drives and fan spin up and the display turns on, however after a few seconds the computer suddenly goes back to sleep. This will repeat after restarting it works normally again until I let it sleep for several hours.
Heres what I have done so far.
1. Ran repair permissions as Administrator and Root user.
2. Updated to 10.4.5 and all other updates (including hardware drivers).
3. Ran hardware test CD and passed all test in extended mode.
4. Reset the SMU (since this replaced the PMU in this model G5)
5. Reset PRAM
6. Reset NVRAM in open firmware
7. Checked Applecare database for other solutions
Computer Specs:
Revision B Dual 2.0 G5 Firmware 5.1.8f7
2.5 GB RAM (2x256mb from Apple) (4x512MB Wintec AMPO)
2x300GB Seagate Hard Drive in RAID 0
Dual Layer DVD Burner from NEC
D-Link DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Card
NVidia GeForce FX 5200 64mb (from Apple)
Mac OS 10.4.5
All third party parts have been installed for three months or more and I have never experienced sleep problems until recently. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be or other tests repairs I can perform?
If not does anyone know what are user installable parts in the PowerMac G5? I have seen the list in Applecare documentation before, but I can not seem to find it. I need to know what parts must be replaced with the originals before bringing my computer into an Applestore, if need be.
Thanks for any suggestions.
