Hey all. My 1.8 GHz G5 PowerMac has been locking up at least once or twice a day. The graphics card seems to get very hot. It is a GeForce FX 5200 64MB and it really has no cooling fans near it to help disapate the heat. When the computer has been running long enough this card gets hot enough to burn you  Does anyone else have a GeForce in their G5 that gets this hot. I think this may be the cause of my lockups given there is no cooling in direct range of this card. I will be getting a 9800SE soon so maybe that will help but I am still curious about the problem and how to fix it. Thanks all :)

Since I moved to Phoenix, my iMac G5 has been a lot more temperamental. On average it is 25 degrees hotter than where I came from. A couple of times, it has just turned itself off.

There was another post about G5 fans during the summer that quoted Apple's own specs that say that the G5 shouldn't be operated in a room over 95 degrees F... I've got a Geforce 5200 as well, and it's never had a problem, if anything I would guess it'd be your CPU... Typically when a video card is strained you see little artifacts on your screen, not necessarily a system crash...
