ok so now that the dual core g5 have been out for a while. does any one know or think it possible that the dual core proc. can be put into a single proc machine. is it pin compatible. and if not do you think any upgrade company will make a dual core upgrade for all the single core g5's out there?

the reason i am asking is someone wants to sell me a 1.8 single g5 for 500 dollars. and i am hoping some one will make an upgrade. would be cool.

thanks for any reply

I believe it is not possible to turn a single proc machine into a dual.

With the dual processor machines there are two separate processor sockets on the motherboard but the single processor machines don't have the second socket.

Jump on it.. as far as i know there are no G5 upgrades but for 500 i mean thats like a a darn good deal... look on ebay, you'll see the PowerMac G4 still go for more then that

sorry i think i miss wrote what i meant.

i figure the dual core machines use only one proc socket.

if so is it pin compatible with the old sigle proc machines.
