Gal with first MacBook

What else might I need - if anything - in order to use it in my living room which is about 40 feet from my modem. Haven't even tried it yet but might like to do that. Thanks.

If you mean connecting to the internet, you should get a wireless router like the Airport Extreme Base Station. Its range is 150 feet from the base station.

Or she could use a cheaper wireless router - so long as it uses regular old 802.11g it'll work with her Mac.

I have a D-Link WBR-1310 and it works great with my MacBook Pro. Speed at 40 feet unobstructed will be excellent.
