Galaxy note 3 to be 5.9 inches?

Better than 6.3" I suppose....
I'd be willing to try it out at 5.5"....but the fact that they keep getting bigger each year really turns me off to the whole "phablet" concept....
Might be able to pull the trigger given I'd still have my N4 and iP5 to fall back on and could use the Note almost like a tablet....
Will have to see what the GS4 looks like....and what the iPad mini 2 looks like.
Think they are making it bigger as really it wouldn't be much different to the galaxy S3/S4 et.c devices..
My point is, it needs to stop....
Each year the Samsung Galaxy devices get bigger and bigger....at some point, the plateau should be reached and they should find another way to differentiate this year's phone/phablet from last year's.

to me the 5 inches of the S4 is the limit for me..don't think it should be any bigger than that.
I wish Samsung would just set some rules.
Galaxy Mini's could be 3.5-4"
Galaxy S's, their flagship, could be 4.5-4.9"
Galaxy Note, their phablets, could be 5"- 5.9"
And their tablets could range 6" and up.

Rather than dictating to buyers what they can or cannot have, I believe Samsung's decision to offer variety and choices to see what the consumer prefers and buys is a great strategy.
The benefit to both parties is already showing, much to Samsungs advantage.
Samsung began with the Galaxy S, was deliberate in placing it with as many carriers worldwide as possible, and from there the Galaxy Legacy has developed quite nicely.
Now, when talking smartphones, just the mention of the "Galaxy" registers with many whom see it as a great brand / model name, and either have one, or know someone that does. That's quite an accomplishment from Samsung in a relatively short time.
From my first hand experience with the S, S2, S3 and Note II, it's a great line of phones. I like them every bit as much as I've enjoyed the iPhones I've used concurrently over the same time frame.
I only see a few problems with this. You'll never know really what the customer prefers if you don't release multiple sizes of the same product at the same time. Otherwise, people are just buying the newest device regardless of size (for those that want to keep up with tech) or they are buying the cheapest model (for those that just want a smartphone but don't need the latest and greatest). If you really wanted to gauge what the customer wanted, release two or three sizes of the S4 at the same time and see which one sells more. That's the only real way, in my opinion, to see what size people prefer.
It's like apple saying 4" must be the right size now because everyone is buying it.
And I disagree with your statement that "galaxy" has become a household name. It has for tech people like us who keep up with it, but for the average person who doesn't even know what Tegra and Snapdragon are, I'd bet they don't know what they are buying, other than the Android OS. I could be very wrong, I'm just going off of what I've seen personally.
I'm in agreement that they need to stop just shoving bigger screens into their phones every year. 5 inches is enough for the S4 and 5.5 inches is enough for the N3. These are already very big phones, there's only so far you can go before they start turning into tablets.
Agreed. It would be hard to stick to the note line if they keep getting bigger and bigger.
People need not look at these as phones but tablets with phone capabilities. Funny how the s4 is 4.9 and the N3 is 5.9.
There are people who were syaing the Note 2's screen is not big enough (for the purpose of writing on)
well the jump for me going to 3.5" to 5.55" wasn't as bad as I expected so whats .4" (I would rather it stay 5.5") the note 3 is the phone im looking forward to this year. But as my note 2 is so great not sure if ill need to upgrade this year. maybe just wack in a new battery, new screen protector and change the back cover (because I can) and it'll be good as new.

Then who are you talking smartphone to? Talking smartphones with Samsung/Android fans? Because there are many here who don't believe that Galaxy represents a good brand. The note far outshines the S series in my opinion for quality, so that particular galaxy model registers good with me.

honestly I don't understand why they would make it bigger. Is anyone out there complaining that the Note 2 is too small? Try sticking with one size for two generations. The Note is a great phone, but if it gets much bigger than it's an automatic no for me. I think many of the claims against the note 2 are exaggerated, but I can't really continue to defend Samsung if they seriously launch a phone with a 6 inch + screen.
