A recent video on android authority said that the galaxy note 4 will feature a home button fingerprint sensor like the touchID. But somewhere else I saw that the fingerprint sensor will carry on with the same concept as the gs5 which is for me bit annoying and cheesy.
So does anyone which type of fingerprint sensor the galaxy note 4 will have ?

I believe it will be the same on the S5.

Yeah i don't think they will release the Note 4 with a different scanner, maybe the s6 next year will bring improvement/change.

I always see the Note line as an improvement over the regular galaxy line but nothing too drastic like introducing a new finger scanner.

One thing I learned about it is you're supposed to swipe the bottom of the screen and the button scanner, not just the button.

S5 software updated the fingerprint scanner, it is 95% accurate at recognizing your fingerprint now...hope the note 4 is even better....soon fingerprint readers will take place on the actual screen...samsungs is working on this for future products

Found this in regards to the Note 4 fingerprint scanner. Same goes for the S5. From Sammobile:

Our credible source reports, the Galaxy Note 4 will sport Synaptics’ Natural ID solution, just like the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Alpha. Many aren’t aware of the technologies which come bundled with Synaptics’ Natural ID solution, one of those technologies is LiveFlex™. This technology allows the separation of the fingerprint sensing element from the fingerprint controller integrated circuit. Samsung uses this technology to split the fingerprint sensor into two parts, one part is incorporated into the home button, while the other part takes input from the main touch screen, and both are used simultaneously to get an ID loaded. The sensor is compliant with FIDO, as well.
After the release of the Galaxy S5, many people reported about the fingerprint scanner being crap and useless due to it being unable to correctly identify fingerprints, and most of the time throwing errors instead of unlocking their latest smartphone. The reason behind this is that when registering their fingerprints, users only swipe their finger over the home button, which is tiny and doesn’t provide sufficient area. The right way is to swipe their finger starting from the lower part of the display to the home button, not just the home button. This allows for a much greater surface area for the finger to swipe on and the result is flawless. This is actually Samsung’s fault and not the users’, because these instructions aren’t present in the current version of the fingerprint registration tutorial. If you didn’t knew about this, try it now!

Interesting, maybe next release will be the fingerprint reader directly in the screen and ditch the home button ?

The fingerprint scanner software on the S5 has been vastly improved since it was first released. I found it hit and miss originally too, but i recently set it up again on my S5 after various software updates and it pretty much gets it 99% of the time.

yep the software has indeed been vastly improved ....

And it's not like Apple's software experience is always great out of the door. Apple Maps for example. Or how about Siri (outside of USA), passport (outside of USA) etc.....

I think 'certain' individuals are just trolling here for reaction - whilst clearly embracing 'selective memory syndrome'.....

Was out with a mate on the weekend and he has an S5, and uses the fingerprint scanner.

It was easily 90% accurate and my mate was massively drunk, so well done Samsung.

I've read that the N4 has a bigger home button than the older phones, it's kinda visible too...I think? Anyway this might suggest that a change is coming to how their system works.

My wife and son both get frustrated with Siri on a daily basis. Either the voice to text messes up or she can't answer the question/doesn't get it right. "okay google" works way better and is way faster.

Hehe, they should slap an alcometer on there as well...

In fact that might actually be quite a selling point  Imagine being down the pub with your mates and you all start checking who is the more gashed and having a laugh about it. And then you could market the other side of it too - using it to check whether you can legally drive.

IMO, the fingerprint sensor in the S5 gets unwarranted flack - I've never had a problem with mine at all (even before the software update).

It's not as convenient as just pressing a button, but it's always worked reliably for me and I get 99%+ success rate with it

Colour me paranoid, but I will NEVER EVER use a fingerprint scanner. There is enough personal info out there about me, I really don't need to give them any sort of way to use it physically against me.

Just the same way that I won't use WiFi banking in an app from a source that I don't have secured.

But that is just me.

They've forced the podcast app on us too. On ios 7 you could delete it now it can't be removed. I prefer to use pocket casts.

You could unnistall most of those apps. Unlike Android, where apps are only deactivated by stay in the ROM (you can still delete the updates), you can get ride of some of those apps.

And some of the others, even if not used, play a very important part of the ecosystem, so they should come preinstalled. Its not like you have 3 email clients out of the box, or something like that.
