Do you mind that the Note tends to be the better product and Samsung's major focus? I like the Note line since it's a great product that is more than a niche device, but others would argue that it's too big or overrated.

The S Line is very similar to the specs, but I feel like that if Samsung focused on the S line more, it would be a better product since they're meant to sell more of the S devices since it caters to more general demographics. The differences seem bigger to me since I am a phone geek, but that's just me.

With how Samsung seems to be heading, the CEO taking a pay cut and a potential severance package, the lack of S5 sales, etc, I think the S6 determines Samsung's future and I hope they fix the Touchwiz issues. They finally seem to focus on build quality since the Note 4 has some metal in its body.

Prolly the biggest problem with the S series is that the next Note release isn't that far (4-5 months at most) away. This contributes a LOT to its bad sales - geeks just wait for the significantly better Note.

And the S5, at launch, was also marred by the imminent release of the Snap 805, making a LOT of people wait (not only geeks).

And, of course, the other problems; most importantly, the lack of camera OIS...

Not just that with the OIS. It was marred by errors carrying over from the S4 with lag and heating issues. The S5 has that bad flap that broke too easily too. It is easy to replace it, but still a pain since it won't work properly for long term use. The iPhone 6 doesn't have OIS and I am sure most of those buyers didn't hold their breath over OIS since the 6 sold pretty well. The rumors of a S5 Plus or a better S5 circulated for months and it hurt consumer confidence for sure. Koreans got the S5-LTE A though. Out of all the phones I saw on sale in BF ads, I saw the S5 mainly. $1 on contract or $100-$200 off the MSRP in the states. So interesting how bad Samsung missed its marks and how carriers/stores are trying to offload their excess stock.

The S line has always been a window of what to expect from the Note line.
That's why I waited for the Note 4 this time around. Cause the S5 reviews were impressive.
And the Note always one ups the S line.

Only to an extent. The S5 actually was underwhelming and disappointing for me. Several people were expecting 3 GB of RAM and a QHD screen out of the box. I was expecting a device with good battery life, a strong waterproof cover, and no lag. What I got was less than advertised battery life, a weak flap cover, overheating issues, lag issues, and awful customer service when it came to fixing the issues. I am sure others feel the same to an extent.

As for the Note 4, we were expecting a waterproof device. Outside of that, the Note 4 is awesome. Keeping 3 GB of RAM and not getting lag shows that Touchwiz is slowly improving. The camera and screen on this device is amazing. I love the quick charge function as well. The Note line is head and shoulders better in terms of quality.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
Galaxy Note vs Galaxy S Line

I have no problem whatsoever because personally I prefer larger screens so the Note being better than the S line works out great for me. I wish HTC, Moto and others would release a comparable device to the Note line that's spec'd out with all the goodies.

That's why I'm so happy Google finally decided to release a pure android phablet. All I can say, it's about f'n time.

Yep, I felt underwhelmed by the S5 when it was announced. I was a S line fan up until late last year. I got a S4 early last year, thoroughly enjoyed it, then BOOM the Note 3 arrived rocking 3GB RAM, the most powerful Snapdragon, an incredible Software suite compared to the S line, incredible battery life, and better build quality.

So this year, I past the S5 and waited for the Note 4, and I am thoroughly happy, the Display and Battery Life are especially just simply amazing, then there is the metal frame, S Pen, software suit (various ways to multitask especially), and the cherry on top: fast charging, mix that with incredible batt. life, I'm happy, Goodbye S line!

Well, the S Line is about to get upgraded from the ground up apparently, which scares me with the Note 5. I really don't like Tizen at all and I want better resource management with Touchwiz to improve the battery life even further. Samsung better make it work well because they have something good going with the Note line.

You shouldn't worry, Samsung have done a great job in keeping the Note line premium, they have fewer Note releases and keep them on the cutting-edge.

If the S line gets a huge boost, the Note line will to. The only thing missing in the Note line now is dust and waterproofing.
