I own an iPhone 4 and have owned every iPhone. My family has 4 iPads, 3 MacBook Pros and two iMacs. So, I am an Apple guy.

I was in Best Buy the other day and went by the cell phone area and picked up the new Galaxy S3 and wasn't impressed. It felt like a little toy that was cheaply built.

Yea its all plastic but the phone is amazing. I bought it today and fell in love with it right away.

the HD Screen is **********G AMAZING! Its the fastest phone i have ever used. Just hoping it doesn't slow down haha.

The only real down-side is battery life. i've had it on for 2 hours now and from full charge its at 60% with moderate text/calling/web (Maybe a few more cycles and it'll improve)

Actually, battery life is better than the 4S, but you need to realize that you have to control your settings. Apple does it for you.

Here are some things you can disable to save battery life. Note that I am not saying these have to be turned on or off or disabled, just that these particular things do eat the battery:

1. Widgets that constantly pull data i.e. weather widget pulling data every half hour. Live news tickers. Etc...
2. Live wallpapers. Some are more battery hungry than others. You need to read reviews to find out which are less battery hungry than others. I have and use this one and it doesn't drain the battery: Ice Galaxy
3. Leaving Screen brightness at 100%
4. leaving GPS and Mobile Data on when you are home on wi-fi. Pull down your notification center and you can one click this off at the top of the screen.
5. Check your battery status under settings and see if anything is constantly pushing to your phone. i.e. hotmail. For whatever reason hotmail tends to constantly push data to your phone.
6. Turn on battery saver mode

And if you want to speed your S3 up slightly go to Settings, Developer Options, then change Window and Transition animation scale from 1.0x to 0.5x.

Felt like a 'little' toy? The iphone can fit within the S3's screen. I wouldn't call the S3 little. I'm certainly glad you came in this part of the forum just to say this though. I own an S3, but am also an Apple guy. I have 2 ATV 2's and 1 ATV 3, 3 iPad 2's, a 27" iMac, a 13" MBP (converted to hold 2 internal SSD's) and an iPhone 4. That said, I do not think the S3 is cheaply built.

It wasn't empty....it working. Plastic feels cheap.

your car, home, computer, and tv must feel really cheap then.

As for the iPhone 4, I still have one. I turned it on the other day and I just can't go back to such a tiny little screen, that is such a pain to use in non-jailbroken form. I honestly don't know how you people can live with that.

Both platforms and their respective phones suit different people. That being said, Samsung should be banned from making cell phones. Their screens are fine (sort of) and their SoCs are good, but their build quality, software, and design are horrid. Truly awful.

I guess iPhone and iPad screens are fine (sort of) since they are made by Samsung.

I, and hundreds of millions others, don't have a problem with Samsung build quality or design. But thank you for taking the time out to share your opinion.

Except the iPhone uses a completely different display technology than Samsung uses on their own devices.

We don't see how you can live with a cheaply made cell phone. To each his own.

I was gonna say that but then I thought the S3 isn't Samsung's only device :p

Just the S2 and Galaxy S alone sod more than 82 million. Now the S3 is 2 months old and sold 10 million. And I'm not even including all the other phones they make. So, yes, hundreds of millions over several years.

I understand it can be confusing when a company makes more than 1 phone. :D

Hundreds of millions, no. Ten million yes:p

See above.

And how do you suppose the IPS screen gets made? Elves and magic? Do you believe that IPS screens were invented by Apple and no one else can use them? Ahhh, stupid me. I forgot. Apple invented everything. :p

Ahh, don't worry about us S3 owners. With a bigger screen, faster processo,r 4 times more RAM, ability to multitask, use a wireless ps3 controller to play games, watch a video while simultaneously web surfing, and of course add an additional 64gb of memory and a larger battery, while you are sand boxed on a dinky little phone... yeah, I can live with that. ::cool:

Guys Android users are unproductive which is why they manage to post so much.

With all those widgets and micro-SD cards to manage ...how would they have time to actually get "work" done? :apple:

Since you obviously aren't aware, allow me to enlighten you. There's nothing cheap about polycarbonate, which is what the GS3 is made of. In case you didn't know, polycarbonate is a premium material and is very durable. It has hardness up there with kevlar. It helps to know what you're talking about if you're going to make a statement ;-)

I have both the 4S and a SGS3, I don't look at one and think that the other has quality issues because its just not true, having said that, since buying my S3 some weeks ago, I haven't had a desire to look at, or use my 4S.

People get so snarky with these debates. I think we can agree neither phone definitively trumps the other in all areas, and much is very subjective.

-1, It might be plasticky but at least it doesn't have semi-sharp edges like the iPhone 4/4S :p

That wasn't my point. My point was one is a Retina display and the other is a pentile Super AMOLED. They produce colors differently and have differently levels of clarity.

Doesn't matter to me what it is made of....whatever it is FEELS cheap.

I was hoping my emoticon would carry my meaning better. I know what you were saying, I was just being a sarcastic arse. :D

And there is no such thing as a 'retina' display. Pentile and IPS are types of display technology. The former has an additional green pixel rgbg, consumes less energy, and is thinner, but can over saturate colors and give a bluish, white hue to bright white content.

Additionally, the S3 has 306 ppi at 4.8 inches compared to the iPhone 4S at 326 ppi at 3.5 inches. By Apples own definition off ppi/display size, the S3 qualifies as 'retina' ;) all that said, the clarity of the iPhone is a hair better than the S3. I had to look really, really close at both screens to see the difference. But considering the S3 is 1.5 inches bigger, as is the HOX, they all have great screens at very high ppi's.

That extra green subpixel is also a concern because it can cause some fuzziness, though I'm sure that issue is lessened at super high pixel densities.
