Someone's in a hurry... :p

"Normally, the Galaxy S21 should have been releasing next year, as Samsung's yearly release cycle goes but the latest report suggests that Samsung might be launching the Galaxy S21 later this year. The report mainly talks about how the production of the phone has ramped up to a higher level, and Samsung could announce the device before the end of the year. The report does hold some weight as it is originating from South Korea, the home country to Samsung."

Samsung needs to chill with releasing so many phones.

I would be pretty salty if I had dropped $1100 on a s20+ back in spring, and 6 months later the FE came out with most of the same specs for way less. Then a few months later the s21 rolled out, making me feel obsolete.

Hopefully it will release this year with the same Exynos chip. Just so I can laugh at the meltdown people will have.

The title saying Samsung might release it earlier to stay in the competition sounds ridiculous. As does the fact it came from someone in South Korea, so the story "must hold some weight". I think someone was in need of some internet traffic.

There are only two months left. It's unlikely that Samsung would do this without having inventory issues around the world and ending up with most people getting the phone next year anyway. Imo Samsung already has a hit, the S20 FE. All they need to do is release a Note 20 FE and call 2020 a day.

This sounds kind of nutty to me. But Samsung’s corporate persona does have the boundless enthusiasm of a golden retriever at the tennis court.

Maybe it's cause Samsung is rumored to end the Galaxy lines. They are going to focus on the foldables. Plenty of rumors expect the clamshell foldable to take the S line's place, and the Fold to take place of the Note.

Or it could also mean Samsung is expecting higher demand, thus they're ramping production early. The rumor is that the next Exynos will finally be the chip worthy to be in the flagship (unlike the last two or so they used). So maybe Samsung is expecting some pent up demand in markets where Exynos is used instead of snapdragon.

Having said that, considering Samsung makes a ton of different phones, it's hard to say. It could also be just for the A52/72. The A5x/7x models are some of Samsung's best sellers, and their refreshes should be coming out soon.

The previous few Galaxy S models were announced in February and released in March.

I wonder if there will there be a problem launching in January so soon after the Holidays? Seems like an odd choice.

I'm not talking about the actual production of the phone... but more to do with people spending that amount of money so soon after the Holidays.

It'll be interesting to see. Though the last few Galaxy S models had trouble outselling their previous models.

Some headlines for context:

Samsung Galaxy S20 Didn't Manage To Outsell S10 In The US In Q2
Galaxy S20 Sales Struggling to Keep up With Galaxy S10 Numbers
Galaxy S20 series sales numbers are worse than the S10 series

Samsung went all in on the premium pricing with the S20. They were caught off guard with the pandemic. They have realized (and corrected) it with the S20 FE, albeit a bit late.

Luckily for consumers, Samsung prices tend to drop significantly. In my country, I now can get an S20 proper at the same price as the S20 FE at SRP. Funny how that works. :D Samsung doesn't do too well in that regard just yet, but all the better for consumers willing to wait for a deal.

I think it kinda fills the void for new mobile tech. There is always a lull between new mobile tech from fall(October) to spring (March). Now if they release the Galaxy S line in January...that will leave March for the new models of foldables like the Flip and the Fold.
