With the new JB update and with LTE on, how long does your phone battery last? Post screenshots. If the battery is good I may find myself with a GS3

The GS3 has an excellent standby battery life. Otherwise it depends on your usage just like any other phone. If your looking to play with it all day long without the need of a charge, then I suggest the Note 2. The GS3 has good battery life for me. I charge once a day and usually never hit below 30% before the day is over.

you'll find battery life somewhere to that of the iPhone 5.usage will very by user. realistically, you should see between 3 and 4 hours of actual on screen time. Of course, with LTE or HSPA+, the weaker the signal, the harder the phone has to work to maintain signal. The S3 is a great phone, the best I have ever owned, but at this point you really should stand by to see what the S4 offers. You don't want to regret getting the S3 once the 4 comes out and has some really awesome features.

I have both an iP5 and a GS3 on AT&T (the latter on official JB). While both have their pluses (and i switch between them), the iP5 has notably better battery life on LTE (~6.5-7.5h of screen on time with browsing via Safari and RSS). The GS3 can do 4.5-5 on a good day if I have Google Now disabled, 3.5-4h if enabled. With now disabled, it's in line with ICS I think.

I am a very heavy user. I have Google Maps running almost all the time while driving and play my music over my car's BT audio. I would say that while driving, my battery will drain about 20% every half hour while running Maps and playing music. My daily commute is about 25-30 minutes in the morning and about 30-40 minutes in the afternoon, so 40% of my battery is drained commuting every day. Mapping apps on all phones I have used (SGS3, HTC Desire Z and Nokia N97) seem to be a massive battery drainer and seems to use twice as much power compared to surfing or social nets. I think I can get close to 5 hours if I just surf on WiFi.

I feed music to my car via Bluetooth from my GS3 without using Navigation and after an hour commute I'm usually a little below or a little over 80% from starting at a full charge. This is with the screen on during the whole commute. With navigation it would probably be down to 70% or lower.

I'm really hoping Samsung will find a way to fit a ridiculously large battery into the S4. I know there's a lot more room to work with in the Note II, but it'd be awesome if the S4 could put something relatively similarly to get the best batt. life.

Exynos 5 Octa chip will give the S4 the battery life you are looking for without the need for a larger and heavier battery.

I agree, the battery on the Note 2 is amazing. Samsung needs to figure out how to squish it in the S4.
