For me, I’m too invested in the app ecosystem of iPad to probably consider one, but the hardware looks great.

S7: 11 inch
S7+; 12.4 inch

Hardware does look great but I left the Android environment behind after 6 tablets and at least as many phones. The app selection and quality simply does not match up to what is available for iOS and the short window of OS updates becomes infuriating (why I would root my tablets and install custom ROMs). Great h/w and poor s/w is like having a beautiful swimming pool filled with swamp water.

Edit: Eligible for three OS updates -

Why does it look like an off-brand iPad Pro?

The same problems exist as always -

Fancy sounding specs (though not tangibly ‘better’ than the iPad Pro)
Knock off iPad Pro looks.
Yet to be seen but one must assume poor OS update longevity.
Non equivalent apps.

At this point this is in no way an iPad Pro equivalent.

The only reason I'd ever consider one of these is for the OLED screen, and that'd be a complete waste of money to buy a flagship tablet just for OLED content consumption. It'd be much smarter to put that money towards an OLED TV.

So, no.

Yeah, for less than the S7+ I got a nice 55" Samsung 4K TV.

Not only I am considering one, I pre-ordered one already. 8GB RAM / 256GB with keyboard.
Reasons why:
- I wanted a tablet with a great experience for watching videos. I wanted it as large as possible but still light enough to be comfortable when I move around the house... The 4.3 aspect ratio is not great for that. 16:10 (it's not 16:9 by the way) is much better. Videos will show slightly larger than on a 12.9in ipad pro, but on a lighter device (even more so with the cover on, which I always use on the ipad too to prop it up). And amoled is a nice plus.
- I am a Samsung phone user (S1, S3, S4,S7 and now S10e) and do not plan to move to iphone as I love my S10e, and Windows is my main laptop/desktop system become my clients use windows only software, so I don't benefit much from the ecosystem, now I can benefit
- The apps I mainly use are generally all as good if not better on Android than on ipados (mainly google apps like gmail, youtube, maps, google photos, Office apps, facebook, messenger, cloud apps like dropbox and onedrive and some remote desktop apps)
- I will be keeping my ipads as secondary tablets at home and main on the go, to have best of both worlds, especially music apps (Android is crap for music playing and creation apps) and reading in portrait mode (4.3 is better for that).

I am very excited to receive it and look forward to see how my experience compares to ipad. I had an android tablet in 2013 (galaxy note 8 LTE with s pen) but since 2014 I have been virtually ipad only.

You'll have to give us feedback on how you like it. My earlier post pans the idea of getting it but the retired engineer/tech nerd in me says I really would like to have one to play with.

I will indeed give my short term and long term feedback on it. I am glad that some ipad lovers (I am one by the way) are interested in knowing more about what Android can do with the best hardware available, instead of just dismissing it as a terrible experience, as unfortunately some Apple fans do.... The tablet should arrive early September (probably because of the keyboards, if I ordered it without I could have received it much earlier). I was lucky however, the discounted bundles all sold out before the promotion ended. I have also seen articles about the S7+ pre-orders being sold out in other countries too.

In my experience with Samsung, they look great, perform great out of the box, but end up slowing down and becoming laggy after a few months.

I love my 2020 12.9” but am always open to at least trying out products.
I don't agree with this. My S10e is as fast as day 1 and is maybe even faster on Android 10. I wouldn't use experience with older devices (especially tablets) as an indication for the future. Until recently Samsung used old hardware for their flagship tablets (see Tab S4). Now they have gone all it and they have made some unique software improvement too (not just in Dex).

The nice and only feature that also apple needs to take it in consideration is when you dock the pad into a keyboard trackpad to have desktop UI

eligible does NOT mean Guranteed.
also 3 OS updates could mean Android OS 11.1 11.2 and 11.3
NOT Android OS 11, 12 and 13
