Galcon apparently got an update today, I bought the game, and it's got online multiplayer now! You choose a login name/password and default color (with a couple backups), and in the game you can now choose a server and play on that. I was playing a game with three people, a fourth entered and we were in four player, it rocked. Game didn't seem to lag at all, even with the billions of ships moving around.

For those who don't know what it is, Galcon is a simple Real Time Strategy game, very fast paced. Each game only lasts like 3-5 minutes, so it's the perfect portable game. There are a bunch of planet of varying sizes, and each planet has a certain number of...hit points I guess :) You start with at least one planet, and you can send ships from any of your planets (or multiple ones) to any other planet. For each ship that hits a planet, it takes out one hit point from that planet, reaching zero takes over the planet. The larger the planet, the faster its hit points regenerate. The goal is to take over all of your enemys' planets. That's it, the game is all trying to capture planets that'll help you take out enemy planets, and try to defend your own planets (by sending your ships to a planet under attack to beef up its hit points).

I think I may finally have to get this now that it's matured some. I figure the multiplayer is pretty simple and easy to play with others, no need to chat or anyone smack talk you find on the xbox.

Question. You mention some sort of hit points on planets. Can you mention more about ships, what generates them, does launching them from a planet take away from its points? How far can they travel on the map? Bigger planets, as you say, replenish faster, which translates to more ships? Does launching ships from a planet deplete it entirely?

I guess it's supposed to be resources or something, but they equate to hit points. Planets each start with a certain number of hit points - neutral planets and your planets show their hit points, enemy planets you have to guess. As a planet is owned, it generates hit points over time, the larger the planet, the faster they generate. Sending ships from a planet costs one hit point per ship, and when a ship hits a planet, it takes away one hit point (or adds to the hit points if it's your own planet). You can choose the percentage of hit points/ships to send out with each attack - 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% (100% leaves a planet vulnerable, but it won't be lost unless an enemy ships hits it before it regenerates some points). The current percentage is in the corner of the screen, tap it to change. To attack, you tap or hold on a planet, and then tap or drag to the target planet. You can also double-tap one of your planets to choose all of your planets for a massive attack.

Ships can travel any distance, and do not fight other ships, only planets. But the further they have to travel the longer it takes, so it is to your advantage to capture some planets near the enemy.
