Thanks.
The location needs a bit more exposure but it certainly has the potential. People don't realize that there is so much more behind The Beat coffee shop. I'm trying to come up with ideas to help the draw.
That would be nice.
I can handle the technical side but struggle with the marketing side. He obviously has the marketing angle down.
I jumped into this whole endeavor just to see where it leads. I don't have high expectations so any success will be a major high. I do want to sell in the big boy galleries some day so this a push in that direction. For now it is entirely funded by my day job.
I did sell two pieces Saturday and have had inquiries on some others. That right there made it all worth it.
It was amazing. It was a bit surreal and I was in a daze all evening. There were half a dozen galleries open as they are trying to establish "Second Saturday" on Fremont Street. I was amazed and blessed with the support people showed me.
I will be working out the hours. Since I have to sit in a box by day it will initially be evenings and weekends. I will be checking out the scene over the next week or two to get a feel of the traffic. I would love to hire somebody to open the gallery on a more regular basis but that will have to wait. I can always open by appointment.
Today everything is torn up as I'm having the front door replaced. I'm removing the lead lined door from the old medical center and replacing it with a security gate so that you can see it at all hours. I will be heading down there to clean up this evening.
For the near future I expect Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to be open 6 pm - 8 pm (possibly later). Second Saturday will be 6 pm - 10 pm. Other weekend hours I will be open for now but I need to set aside some time to get out and shoot.
In case you couldn't tell I'm in way over my head. I'm going day by day at the moment. I put all my effort into the opening and played many roles (carpenter, seamstress, painter, flooring installer, laborer and ceiling installer). I am really happy with the way it all came out now to get down to business.
Honestly I think a large part of where I am today is thanks to the community on these forums. I've taken inspiration and critiques from countless posts.
Thanks again everybody. This has been a wild ride and it can only get crazier from here.
I took a phone pano last night before I took down the sold pieces and tore everything up for today's construction:

And Mom sent a bottle of Dom for the opening!
