How do we get rid if this annoying thing that is being imposed on us??

Gamecenter is part of the core iOS apps like calendar and contacts. The only way to remove it is jailbreaking.

By the way Gamecenter is not being imposed, it is totally optional. You don't have to use it if you don't like it. And many games have Openfeint support if you want to play online without using Gamecenter.

If you don't like it, simply don't use it. They didn't force you to create an account.

Game Center is great! I don't know why people don't like it much, its one way to compete with friends score's and achievements. Plus now you can keep track of your "trophies" (like on PS3 and XBOX 360) which is great, but of course not everyone wants it. But the only way to actually get rid of it is through a jailbreaking method/app, or simply just log out of it and don't use it.
