Hey, so I want some game emulators (GB, GBA, NES, DS, PS1, PS2, PS3, SNES, N64, etc.) from Cydia yet I'm having some trouble.

1. I run firmware 3.0 on an iPhone 3G

2. I don't want to waste my time or figure out any crazy computer crap, I'm looking for strictly game emulators that I can play and download and manage on my iPhone.

3. The free NES emulator available doesn't work on 3.0 and the new one (which includes 3.0 support) is like $5.99 which I don't really wish to pay.

Besides the NES emulator I can't even find any others! I've found sources to add which have plenty of PS2, GBA, etc. ROMS to add, but they don't have emulators listed or available (for me to find/search) even though they say "install the ____ emulator first!" If anyone knows of some good gaming emulator apps or sources to add that are either free or very reasonable please please let me know! Thanks much!

Looks like all the 3.0/3GS optimized emulators are donation-ware now. The latest PSX update requires a donation, the previous version ran pretty bad. The GBA and NES emulators for 3.0 also have a price or require a donation. I'm guessing SNES will be updated soon as donation-ware. The current version is choppy, even on a 3GS. If you want an emulator for 3.0, looks like you're going to have to pay.

Choppy as it may be, I'd like to at least try it out. Do you know what to search or what source to add to find the SNES emulator and its ROMS?

*UPDATE* I found the SNES emulator (no ROMS though) and it says "After installing, place your .SMC/.ZIP/etc ROMs for SNES in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/SNES - this confuses me and sounds like a bunch of computer required crap, yes or no?

P.S. I found the psx4iphone emulator, the gpSPhone emulator, and the gameboy4iphone emulator and chose "FREE" under donation & download, and I think it actually worked...so wth? Will this really work, is it gonna still charge me? Agg, and it says that it doesn't include BIOS file or ROMS (searched "ROMS" in Cydia, couldn't find any for PS systems, did find some for gpSphone though) and more file crap is mentioned in the info as well, soooo confused, do I need to pay attention to any of this bull? Please help!

For all the emulators you have to place your *legally* obtained ROMs in the /var/mobile/Media/ROMs folder using WinSCP/SFTP/SSH.

Thanks, but what is WinSCP/SFTP/SSH? Where & how do I access this place that I need to place my ROMs in?

*UPDATE* So I found a new source: htttp://xsellize.com/cydia/snes-roms/ - got it from a YouTube video, it actually does work (although the packages take a larger than average time to install), so you might wanna try that out for yourself as it has a lot of game packs all compatible with snes4iphone, which is free anyways.

*I do not own or host any of these games or ROMs and can not be held responsible what-so-ever with/to any action or legal reference related to this source or game emulator.

Okay so I have now had success with snes4iphone player and gpSPhone emulator, pressing "FREE" under Download and Donate actually DOES work. From there everything should be a breeze! Trying the psx4all emulator now, will report back please do so as well with any additional info you may have. :)

Note: That famous iROM source is now down so GBC emulator will not be obtainable. Other than that, the only other things not available are a few more sources/ROMs/games (but there are still plenty more sources out there). Besides that, the only thing I know I won't be able to use is the NES emulator because I have 3.0 and there is only one player out there right now and the free version doesn't support 3.0 and the payed one does but is like $5.99.
