Here's the situation I'm in.
------------------------------
I own a game (Age of Empires III). I want to download a modification for it.

The mod is easily downloaded, along with a Hotfix that fixes all bugs and glitches, but there are two problems I have.
----------------------------
NUMBER 1
For those of you who don't know, this game has things called "Civilizations", factions that you play as. The game is hardcoded to where you can only have 14 Civilizations in it. However, this limit is broken by the mod through the use of some programming.

In order to get it to where I can play AS all Civilizations, I need to delete the "AI" files for the game, in the folder for Age of Empires III under "Documents" and another folder, which in PCs is under the "Program Files".

As this is a MAC, the Program Files are under Applications. How would I access the individual AI files within the folder?
---------------------------
NUMBER 2
The game also has a limit on how many Civilizations you can play AGAINST. There is no solution for this program, but I can, and wish to, replace some of the Civilizations I can play against with others.

The way you approach this is by backing up your AI files before installing the modification, and then, upon installation, inserting the AI files into the AI Folder.

This is pretty much the same as Number 1: how do I access these folders?
--------------------------
IN CONCLUSION
I am a teenager, and my mother handles all of the computer work in our household.
I am posting here because, while she probably knows, I wish to possess the knowledge myself.

Thank you for your time. :)

I'm not familiar with the game but you might find what you need by right-clicking the game app in Finder and selecting Show Package Contents. That will reveal any files contained within the app package.

The AI files would be in one of two places, I would assume. Either your Age of Empires folder in one of the sub folders, or right click, show contents on the Age of Empires logo. Just have a look around there. Or search for the name of the folder in Spotlight (command+space)

I would think that, since those are core data files closely associated with the game, that they'd be located inside the application bundle. To get in there, right-click the application and choose Show Package Contents.

Thank you all for your responses. :)

I asked my school's computer teacher about it, and he demonstrated how to open a file with TextEdit. Strangely, I cannot find an "Open With" option when I right-click the application so as to open it with TextEdit.

I can't find "Show Package Contents" either.

EDIT: I used Spotlight and found many of the files, but I need to directly reach the program's AI files in order to carry out the task....

God. The game has two expansion packs, both of which I have installed, and for each expansion pack (and the original game) it has two folders each.

One, according to a guy I talked to online, stores the user data and is easily accessed and edited.
The other is used for entering the game.
According to him, the Program Files should be stored where the game is installed, and in a MAC the Program Files are in an Application.
But I cannot find them!

If you search in Spotlight, click show all, then single click on the file and down the bottom of the Finder window it will show the directory of it, then you can just click on one of the files in the directory and it will take you there.
