I have 2 young nephews that have been asking me to show them how to make a game. Anyone know of any handy templates I can use? They obviously don’t have the patience to make a game so just looking for something to show them small code changes and how that affects the app. Anyone?

Swift Playground is fun. You can also buy game templates from codecanyon.net. There are plenty of game templates available.

Can I suggest our app hyperPad (www.hyperpad.com)? It's an iPad app that lets you create mobile games and interactive apps with out traditional code. Instead we've developed a drag and drop behaviour system. Works like a flowchart of actions and events.

It's extremely powerful (some games in the app store have been created on our platform), and approachable. Schools are even using it to teach younger kids programming and other STEM skills.

It could be a great way introduce your newphews to game creation and programming. I'm also wrapping up a tutorial on creating a complete Flappy Birds style game. It should be done in the next week or so :)
