Wouldn't it be awesome if some company made a dock connector for iPhone, with actual buttons for game play?

Imagine a half inch tall dongle, about as wide as the iPhone itself, as sort of an extension of the phone.

It would have real buttons on it, that could be programed to "touch" various sections of the screen, and it could also come with pre-programmed profiles to work with various apps, like game emulators, for example.

I really dig the NES emulator, and I also enjoy the reactions I get, when I show it to people, but with virtual buttons, it isn't much more than a novelty, really.

This is the closest I've seen. It's a psp style control device that the phone just slips into. Don't know when they'll be available for sale though, as the website gives no indication.

Plus it's zod supported, so it will definitely work with all of his emulators.

I have thought about this a bit myself. I agree with Confuzed's suggestion to have a "dongle" type connection to fit the bottom of the phone. It would be less intrusive than what is proposed so far. I wouldn't even mind a connector with a 5 or 6 inch cable and an NES type controller.

Now THAT would be cool.
