Do any games save files go into the cloud?

Does syncing your iphone copy the save file to the computer?

Does backing up your phone backup the game save and if so can it be selectively restored?

It seems to me that the only way to move game saves or other app data around is by backing up the phone and doing a complete restore, is that correct?

iCloud and iTunes backups are identical. Both backup your app data to their respective places.

At this time, you can't selectively restore an app's data. Like you said, the only way to get it back is to restore from a backup that contains the data.

So you are saying if I sync a game to Itunes, delete it from my phone, then add it back via Itunes, my progress in the game will be retained?

No, if I am right, the moment you delete a game from your phone, the savegame (appdata) is also deleted. iTunes then makes a backup without such a data, which replaces the old one.

Then, if you install the App again, iTunes won't have any place from which get the save game data. iCloud works the same way.

This is a complete boomer, because it would be great to keep the save data from games that you no longer want to have installed.

SOME games (infinite blade 2) have the cloud saving feature which will restore the save game.

I think all apps should use iCloud if possible. The game I am playing on my iPad now I might want to continue on my iPhone tomorrow. Make it happen

"Cut the ropes" and Cut the ropes Experminents" also offers iCloud based game saving.

The lack of iCloud based apps is VERY ANNOYING. There are APIs and it's SO SIMPLE to update apps with iCloud support.

I know this is an old thread but I have a method of backing up game saves and app data. You must have a jailbroken iphone/itouch and you must have iFile. You can find tutorials online on how to jailbreak if you do not know and you can find cydia sources to get paid cydia apps like iFile for free. What you do is you go to iFile and turn on both "Show Hidden Files" and "Application Names" in the iFile settings. Then press the home button in the iFile app (not the home button on the iphone/itouch). Go to Applications and find your app name that you want to make a backup of. Go in that app's folder and copy the Documents and Library folders and store them in a safe place. Now you can safely delete your app and when you want your app and it's data back, simply replace those same Documents and Library folders in that app's folder :)
