I love half-Life (for example) and especially the sort of interactive parts with the characters. I also like the changes in settings and the task that are needed to advance. However, I find the enemy attacks just a bit too unrelenting and too frequent. Can anyone recommend a game that has the same story elements and graphics like half-life but is less (or not at all action-based). I also have Dragon Age Origins, so would appreciate other ideas. I also love the look and atmosphere of Bioshock, but again wonder if there is anything less action-orientated but with the latest graphics look? I suppose if it involves weapons it will be basically mostly action.

Any suggestions much appreciated (mac or pc/bootcamp) I am using the 27 inch quad core imac i5 with 8GB ram.

Portal is a good non-violent FPS (minus the S). However don't expect too much in the way of changing environments.

How do you feel about sneaking around and then shooting? I don't think you're going to find many shooters that don't involve a lot of shooting till you get to the stealth category. Try Chronicles of Riddick, or Splinter Cell. They both still have a lot of gunfights. Kinda indicative of the genre. I'm curious to hear other's suggestions.

psychonauts, older graphics from 2005, but it is the best game that nobody ever played. it's a platformer where you have psychic powers and use them as tools to navigate the area and beat bosses. every level you go to is very distinct with its own unique flavor. atmosphere is very immersive and dialogue is brilliant

it has an incredibly high score on metacritic, and everybody who plays it loves it. however, due to poor marketing it has been swept under the carpet and forgotten about
