Same here. I guess they took it down due to the server loads happening today.

I've been having the same problem and I doubt it's a server issue on Apple's end.

The connection error comes up so quickly after clicking that it doesn't seem like it even tries to connect. I checked my hosts file to see if any Apple servers were blocked, but no such luck. I'm still convinced it's something to that effect though.

Okay, I was able to fix it. As I expected, it was due to some servers being blocked in my hosts file. I thought it would have been gc.apple.com since Game Center connects to that when it starts according to Little Snitch, but that wasn't it. I deleted some entries related to VeriSign and a couple others and now Game Center works fine. I wish I could be more specific about which entry was the culprit, but I wasn't very methodical.

In summary, check your hosts file!

Having had the same issue.. i checked the hosts file... deleted two references to Verisign and now Game Center works just fine...

Good call nandreetta!!

Thanks...

Additional Info:

(If you added entries to the hosts file (either manually or via a script that was provided) because you wanted to run Photoshop, that is where the Verisign entries will be found that are causing the problem.)

This did the trick. I commented out two lines that were about version and game center is working.
