Gamepad - is MFI a must-have?

Hi,

i´m searching for a Gamepad for the latest iPad.
Nice-to-have is a "sliding" Gamepad which holds the Pad between the right and left side.

But now: is "MFI" a must-have for iOS Gaming?

Because there are so many Pads with "for ios" in the product describtion. For example:

I'd personally say MFI is a must-have. Otherwise you're more likely to encounter issues, especially after iOS updates and things like that. You'll also have more scope with the OEM and/or Apple to get problems fixed if it's MFI.
