Why do some people say: "Oh, Macs can't play games well" or "Macs don't have games" or "Get a PC for Gaming"?
Isn't a Mac Pro with an 8800 GT good enough for you for gaming? Why do you need more? Even a MacBook Pro with 8600GT, iMac with 2600 Pro or Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600XT would be fine to OK. Why do you need more?
Macs can game.

Yeah they most definitely can, but you certainly wouldn't be buying a mac for gaming, as you can get a PC that can run with the same general power for a much lower price. For the most part playing a few games on the mac is a luxury, not a primary "feature".

the mac pro 8800 gt costs what ? 2499 minimum ?

my brothers 600 bucks computer has a gt 8800 card and can run crysis on high as well ... except at a fraction of the cost

Ferrari and Corvette can have the same horse power. Some people prefers a Ferrari.

An 8800gt wil run you what, $220? $250? Even if you manage to get one for $200, you are not going to be able to put together everything else for $400 and run Crysis 'on high'.

Case? MoBo? CPU? Power Supply? Ram? Hard Drive? (Fans/keyboard/mouse).

$1000 is still a lot less than $2200 - $2600 so lets try to keep the exageration in check.

One past problem has been the buggy/unstable/otherwise less-efficient nature of *some* Mac ports. You're not always "playing the same game on the same hardware." Civ IV is a good example of one with much higher system & memory requirements on Mac than on PC. Others report some Cider-ported PC games are similar.

On the other hand, Blizzard is very good about dual PC/Mac releases, and their games tend to run just as well on one as the other.

In got a mac pro with 8800 and played around with mac games. Downloaded the demos for Empire at War and Age of Empires III. Empire at war crashed the first time I opened it and AoEIII crashed so bad it required a hard reboot. Bought XP for gaming = better experience as the games are cheaper and run far better (despite the os only having access to 4 cores).

Given that the Euro is roughly 1.5x the US/CDN dollar, that's not too surprising. Add in that a monitor wasn't on that list and it's really nowhere near a $600 computer.

well if apple doesn't adjust their prices and that is called fair (on this board) i don't have to do it the reverse way, now do i ?

the mac pro + gt 8800 is still 2700 euro so the price ratio is still the same if it's 600 to 2700 dollar or euro

and the mac pro doesn't come with a monitor either

not that monitors are something in huge supply and thrown away completely fine all around because they are replace with LCDs
