I've installed parallels v3.0 build 4560 and I'm running my XP bootcamp partition. On it I have NHL '07 and The Sims 2. Neither of these games will start. NHL just crashes and Sims complains about direct X9.0c.

I was under the impression that parallels had support for 3D games?

have you enabled the hardware video rendering in the virtual machine settings? it seems opengl games are better at the moment than directx, there is an update being beta tested at the moment so should improve from now on in

Well, Parallels supports only DX 8.1 as far as I know [+OpenGl - edited]. That's why some of the games may not be working. Parallels desktop is a good app, but it still lacks good graphic support. I use it for work successively, though. Try Boot Camp for gaming, it's free
