Hi guys!
I have installed trial version of both WMWare Fusion 3.0 and Parallels 5 on my MBP.
I have a few classic games boxes with flight simulators that I love, they do however not run on Vista, but only on XP or Win98.
I managed to create a fullly updated Win XP SP3 image virtual machien for both Fusion and Parallels.
BUT - I am having serious trouble getting these ancient games to run.
Falcon 4.0
Falcon 4.0 in Fusion play intro movie, show welcome and config screen ok, but when it comes to fly, the loading screen never goes away, - the sound is there and I see some traces of the HUD overlaid... reminds me of 10 years ago when ATI has ****** drivers....
In Parallels it goes better, I actually get to fly - but - for some reason, resolution is limited to 1280x960 and it runs inside a window on the screen - like letterbox with black bar on top, bottom and sides....
Combat Mission
Combat Mission: Africa Corps installs fine on both, but on Fusion is has serious problems detecting the screen resolution. On Parallels it goes better, but in both cases, the games can not detect the CD inserted (I would prefer not having to use cracks for my legal games and thus risk Trojans and viruses.)
B-17: The mighty eight
This one runs perfect on both!
Now, I am off to try out Flanker 2.0/2.5 and Comanche vs. Hokum
I would appreciate your inputs.
Is bootcamp with XP the only to go????
