Hi,

I'm considering purchasing the 13-inch 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro. I was interested in playing 3D games on it, but wanted to know how they would perform with this computer.

I understand games will never perform as good on a Mac than on a PC, but I am determined to not buy a PC, even if it means lower performance. I'm okay with lower quality provided the gameplay is preserved.

- Call of Duty 4, or perhaps 6 with boot camp?
- Battlefield 2142
- Portal (when Steam Mac comes out)

I get the feeling CoD 4/6 probably won't run so great; in that case I'd probably go for CoD 2.

Thanks!

Yeah, they should all run fine. I'm playing all of those games including COD MW2 at medium to high settings on my 2008 17" Penryn MBP (2.5Ghz, 4GB Ram, 7200RPM HDD, Geforce 8600 512MB VRAM).

You may need a decent sized external display though eh... :p

I like to play games very much but I like to play games on my gadgets instead of PC or Mac. Sometimes I play games on Mac but it does not support complex game or games which needs more graphic space so I play that type of game on my PC. But you can play this type of game in lower setting also on Mac.

What game(s) are you referring to that the Mac hardware can't support?

I posted some videos on youtube displaying the capabilities of the newest Macbook Pro 13". Check out my channel down below. I hope it helps with your decision on whether or not to purchase it. Personally I feel the Macbook Pro handles games great.

My MBP has handled every PC game I've thrown at it. Not super fast frames but playable. I got about 22 fps playing Crysis which is fairly good for that game which is a hugh cpu hog. Other games like The Witcher and Fallout 3 played well. If you are traveling with a computer, the Mac is the best choice, that is if you prefer the MacOS whenever possible. My only suggestion is to get more than 128MB of VRAM. If I had it to do over again, that is what I'd do

Seriously; WoW is NOT a good benchmark for how good a PC (mac or win) can run games.

If gaming is a big thing buy, Xbox, Ps3 or a Windows PC.
