I've attempted to comb through the thread and threads and threads, but it may be faster and more efficient to ask directly.

I plan to do some gaming with my 4,1@5,1 cMP. Currently, I'm running flashed HD 7970, but looking to upgrade. I'm looking at the Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB (blue edition) or a reference Vega 56.

I'm hesitant on both cards, the RX 580 interferes with the slot 2 and based on "AMD Polaris & Vega GPU macOS Support" thread, the reference vega cards seem to have some kinda fan issues. The recommended card, Sapphire Pulse RX Vega 56, also interferes with slot 2, so I'd prefer a reference version. (The psu upgrade for the Vega 56 is a non-issue for me.)

Are there still issues with fan speed, etc. with the Vega 56/64 cards as of 2019?

Is the Vega 56 worth getting over the RX 580?

I first had RX-580 sapphire, which I replaced for the Dell OEM RX-580 reference edition due to the 2.2 width of the Sapphire . Now I got R9 280X which I flashed for Boot screen . I am planning to put the RX-580 (6 pin connector) powered by the 2 SATA power connectors in the 4th slot along with the R9 280X in the first slot .I will still have 2 more PCI slots

Obviously there are plenty of dual slot RX580 options.

And the Vega 56 can be flashed to avoid fan issue.

Just pick one option.

And if for gaming, I personally will go for Vega 56.

Thanks for the response, where can I begin to look to learn about flashing the Vega 56 series cards?
