Gaming with magic mouse?

Sucks for gaming, I tried playing a flash game and it was very poor. Grab a 20$ mouse for gaming, that's what I use, 100 times better
This is one area where Apple is not on the cutting edge... buy another brand.
I've always liked Kensington, Logitech, and even Microsoft. Look for a company whose mouse software is written for Mac. It's more than just drivers, because those are included with the MacOS so any USB mouse will function. The software gives you more advanced capabilities such as button assignment and macros, although button assignment can work in many games if that ability has been written into the game. That is not unusual in most FPS, RPG, and RTS games.

I've done Heroes of Newerth, Starcraft, Bioshock, and CoD 4 with the Magic Mouse, and I actually liked it. I'm a casual gamer though, so it's just anecdotal. I never noticed any lag, and it's pretty simple to lift one finger when you need the right click I never had any trouble switching between right and left click.
I don't recommend gaming with the Magic Mouse, not just because the lack of 2-click support, but for the comfort factor. You'll really feel the rigid edges when gaming. I don't recommend using it in Windows as well, as the right-click doesn't always register.
No it doesn't, you shouldn't have to lift your fingers off the right mouse button to make a left click. Ergonomics dictates you should be resting your hand as much as you can.
I game a lot with my Magic Mouse, in particular RTS games, and I find it to be great. No lag (where did that rumour come from?) at all. Yes, you can't right/left click at the same time, and sometimes you scroll when you don't mean to, but it doesn't really interfere with my game.
If you're really serious about your gaming, there are definitely better mice, but if you just want one mouse, this one will still do you just fine.

True. Also, the Magic Mouse will occasionally misregister right-clicks as left-clicks (at least for me). There's only one physical button, so it uses software to look at where your fingers are on the mouse when you click to decide if it's a right-click or left-click. Sometimes you may rest your index finger, click with the middle finger expecting a right-click, and POW! you get a left click.
This usually is not an issue except in some games like Fable TLC when left+right click is a combo move this double click of left and right together is impossible meaning we need to add a special "Apple mouse key" on the keyboard when you click to get the same effect.
The mouse is a great mouse for most things (and every new model is an improvement) however in some gaming situations a more conventional mouse with a separate left and right click can be easier to use.
However with the latest mouse supporting multitouch perhaps some cool controls could be dreamed up to be used instead on this mouse.

I use a Logitech G5 along with the Steermouse software. it works like a champ. Honestly, I don't know how I ever played without it 
I find the shape far too awkward to use in games.

It is?! Lordy Loo I destroyed mine years ago to retrieve the USB cable (my real gaming mouse broke and it had the same internal connection), its long lasting but for games?
Microsoft do make great mice though, along with Logitech and Razer.

I just gotten my iMac, and I have an Logitech G7. I installed Logitech LCC, it behaved erratic, mouse jump around from time to time, grabbed the dock icons and make it *poof*. Then I tried Steermouse, but the button assignment also gives problem, for example, I could no longer left click the link on Safari, it always bring be to the previous page, as if I am clicking the "back" button.
So it didn't work as charm as you have described. Did you tweak anything?
I also have VMware fusion installed. I was disappointed that I couldn't use the Logitech Setpoint in the virtual environment, guess it is because the Logitech Mouse device is locked by the Mac Environment, and could not be detected in the virtual environment.
I REALLY NEED STRONG RECOMMENDATION FOR A BETTER MOUSE!!! I had history of wrist pain, and Magic mouse is so flat and so uncomfortable! I really like Logitech G7, but Logitech doesn't seem to care about Mac user! The download link for LCC is not even working, and they do not response to my email support. I was only managed to download the LCC from FTP site after some personal observation, and some try and error.
Any other recommendation?
I just stay way from installing any drivers and use the OS mouse settings in system preferences without any Logitech drivers works great for me and most of our staff working in the QA labs testing games. I think we are mostly using the Logitech MX range of mice.
If you want extra drivers and features I highly recommend this software. I have used it on and off for years have not used the latest version but I would expect good things.

Without driver, the mouse cursor won't even moved! that is the problem. Not that I need the driver badly. G7 is a cordless mouse. G7 works natively on my friend's Macbook running Tigger. It simply doesn't work on Snow Leopard at all.
That is bizzare! Sorry don't have any more suggestions apart from contacting Logitech!
