Do you guys know about any good software for the Mac that makes GANTT charts? I've been looking at Omniplan and although it fills all my (very basic) requirement, it's total overkill for me tracking my projects. I'm just looking for something quite simple, basic and doesn't cost 200 bucks.

As I said - Omniplan is great, but for my purposes it's like buying a BWM X4 just to go buy some milk :D

What are some of the features that you're looking for in a gantt chart tool?

I have a Google Sheet that I use to generate gantt charts... task name, task owner, start date, end date, and status: (upcoming/complete/active)

You can also use the PlantUML language, make many diagrams in MarkDown text and then have the image auto generated. For complex charts OmniPlan is very good :)

Or alternatively, use the awesome Draw IO. See here for examples; https://about.draw.io/features/examples/

You can make a horizontal bar chart in excel, if you Google ("excel gantt chart"), you can find instructions, you can have sequential task dependencies etc, quite basic but may fit your needs - and is free if you have excel.
