When the screen on my MBA is closed down the rubber edge on the bezel around the screen does fit tightly on the left side, but on the entire right side, there is as small gap betweene the rubber edge and the base of the MBA.
At the rear right the distance between the bezel and the base of the MBA is one milimeter and since the rubber edge takes up less than half of that distance, i'd say the gap is at least half a milimeter.
Does your screen fit tightly all the way around or is a small gap normal?

I'd think the rubber edge not only avoid metal against metal, but it will also prevent dust or dirt from entering the screen / keyboard / touchpad area when transporting the MBA.

You should see my mbp. It looks like Billy Idol's lips. MBA is alright.

Thank you for the responses. This might convince me that I don't need the use their 14 day return policy and thereafter waste time waiting for another you with the same minor issue.

If anyone doesn't have any gap at all, this is the time to make a post!

My survey isn't really a success if one, some or a lot of people doesn't tell about their very tight-closing MBAs.
Thanks!

mine does not have this however... there is a very slight bump on my bezel on the top left side. Just where the magnet is. It is very slight you can only notice when the light hits it in a certain way or when I run my finger over it. In any case I have decided to live with it. If it gets worse I will call apple...so unless you cant live with your screen gap...I would live with it and if it gets worse call apple...there is no telling what problems your replacement might come with. I bought the extended care for mine.
