I Just installed GB and it seems pretty cool but it will only play through my internal speaker on my tower. I check Prefs. in GB and the Audio out shows my sound sticks but they are greyed out and say "not 44.1" WTF!!! Does any one no why and How I might fix it. I have the two sound sticks with the sub woofer. never had any problems before????

I'm not sure what to tell you, but I wanted you to know it works fine with my soundsticks...

go to the preferences in GarageBand and click on audio & MIDI and then choose soundsticks under output.

I have the same problem. Under audio output in GB the option to choose soundsticks is greyed out and says not 44.1. I have a Quicksilver G4.

MY SOLUTION

YES!! GB NOW WORKS WITH MY SOUNDSTICKS!!!!

All it was, was a setting in the Midi Audio Utillity. Close GB and open the "Audio Midi Setup" app in the Utilities folder in applications. Select your Sound Sticks and change the Format setting to 44100.0Hz. Close the Midi Audio Setup and open GB and you will then be able to seleted the sound sticks in GB prefs. GB is addictive once you can really hear it.

my little sister has started playing around with GB and she has the SoundSticks and they seems to work fine, although they sound awful. it's a very bad idea to produce music without some decent nearfield monitors. you'll mix it to sound great on your setup but when you go and play it in the car or somewhere else it will sound awful.
