Garageband for free with new G5?

Hi all,

I was wondering because I heard different stories: Do you get GarageBand (or iLife 04) for free with your G5? I ordered one back in December, it got delivered after iLife 04 was introduced and already shipping, but didn't got it.

if you didnt' get it, you dont' get it. yours was apparently just a shipping delay. i would reccomend contacting apple and requesting a copy of iLife... say that you deserve it because it shipped after the release date. they might just give it to you. good luck!

I certainly will send an email to Apple Holland and my dealer! Hope I get! I am not much of a musiccomponer, but it is always nice to have such a program to record with. I am missing a good sound recording app on my mac in os X. With os 9 I had several good freeware apps, but didn't find any for os X

Since you ordered it before iLife was announced to be with all new macs, and iLife '04 didn't start shipping untill Feb. with new computers, they aren't under any legal obligation to give it to you.
From the terms and conditions of the iLife '04 uptodate program:
This program entitles the purchaser of a qualifying Macintosh computer purchased on or after 6 January 2004, to upgrade to iLife ‘04.• This program ends March 26 2004.

Yes, there you go, I ordered mine in december, paid and received it at the end of januari. So the purchasing moment is when I paid and received it (= international accounting standard!!).
