Garageband Instruments

I take free midi songs from the internet and rearrange and produce them in Garageband to suit my taste, but those basic virtual instruments are getting boring. I have found some freebies on MacJams and some I can create in Band In A Box, through considerable effort, and play in GB. Is there any way of using my internal Mac synthesizer (QuickTime Player) instruments (there's supposed to be about 100 in there somewhere) directly in Garageband, or is there a program that does this?

You can buy some Jam Packs from Apple that have more instruments for you to play with.

Yes, you can sort of use the QuickTime instruments in GarageBand, but the functionality is not especially useful for recording. Details here.
